Darenosa

Darenosa is the electronic music project of David Lopez de Arenosa, from Los Angeles, CA. What started out as a bedroom music experiment with a guitar and a looper, has evolved over time into a dark and infectious dance music project with a live band that has shaken up dance floors from San Diego to LA, and even Burning Man and beyond.

Born in Madrid and raised in London, Lopez de Arenosa grew up playing in rock bands with friends, and jazz and funk bands at school. After moving to San Diego, California, to pursue a college degree in Music Technology at UC San Diego, he discovered a new passion for electronic music and began to dive deep into the creative realms of loopers and synthesizers, eventually building a unique performance looper instrument custom designed to his specific needs and creative approach. This looper gave rise to his solo electronic project, originally named DLA, in which he released several singles and an EP to much online acclaim, including indie-electro jam Sidelines, which was premiered by NEST HQ and received high praise throughout the blogosphere.

Jordan Furlong joined the live ensemble filling in keys and synthesizers, and shortly after Blake Williams jumped in on the djembe and percussion to add rhythms and textures to the live interpretations of these bedroom tracks. The trio played in San Diego venues such as the Casbah and Soda Bar, as well as several local art festivals such as Youtopia, and even Burning Man in Nevada.

After ferociously fighting the search engine and algorithm overlords, the project was eventually renamed Darenosa, and thus began a new chapter, and a fresh start in relocating to Los Angeles.
